Our goal is to maximize your trips across the field and the quality of the baled crop. QUADRANT square balers have an extra-long bale chamber for high bale density in all crops, from dry hay to wet baleage to dusty straw, these machines get the crop packed tightly. More material in one bale equals fewer bales to handle, less fuel, less labor, less deprecation, and less twine used per year. Studies have also shown that dense baleage preserves crop nutrients longer when wrapped with high-quality silage film. Less feed loss, better feed-to-gain, and more money in your pocket are just some benefits of dense bales from the QUADRANT square baler.
Without a uniform stream of crop, high bale density cannot be achieved. That's why the CLAAS QUADRANT square baler uses a wide pickup, crop press, and powered auger to pre-compress the crop. This smooths out lumps and balls in the windrow, thus making the flake in the chamber a consistent thickness that compresses easily.
Taking shape.
The QUADRANT pre-chamber ensures each flake placed in front of the plunger is packed top to bottom. Using mechanical tension, the stuffer tines are not tripped until the pre-chamber has been filled completely. This means consistently sized flakes are compressed by the plunger even if the windrowed material is light.
Packs it tightly.
Each plunger stroke transfers the tractor's power into the bale. The direct drive from the PTO through the slip clutch and large flywheel ensure the bale is packed tightly. Many plunger strokes per minute mean bale density remains steady even when baler capacity is pushed to the limit.
Pressurized all the way through.
QUADRANT square balers are purpose-built with an extra-long bale chamber to hold the bale firmly. Hydraulically pressurized rams add adjustable pressure to the side and top doors for even greater grip as the bale grows in length. The long chamber completely contains even the longest bale before it has been tied, ensuring density isn't lost when the bale exits the chamber.
Crop flow.
Reliability and performance are two things that shouldn't be questionable when talking about the baler's crop flow. QUADRANT square balers are built to handle all types of crops from bulky straw to delicate alfalfa. The pickup, crop guard, and rotor are all positioned close together for seamless hand-off of the crop and to limit the risk of plugging. Even in high volume crops, the incoming material can be seen from the operator's seat.
A wide pickup grabs even the widest windrows and gently delivers it to the rotor. Being a cam-driven pickup, the handoff from the tines to the rotor is very short ensuring that crop does not stall and plug. Each tine is supported by a U-channel tine bar that physically limits tines from flexing too far and breaking. This keeps tine failure and subsequent repair costs to a minimum.
Smoothed out.
The QUADRANT is equipped with the unique POWER FEEDING SYSTEM (PFS) powered cross auger. PFS prevents crop from stalling by grabbing crop from the pickup and setting it in front of the rotor. This allows wide, bulky windrows to be narrowed and prepped for entering the pre-chamber.
ROTO FEED.
The ROTO FEED rotor ensures a smooth crop flow from the pick-up into the bale chamber. Spiral arrangement of the blades pull crop in across the full chamber width for high capacity and square-shouldered bales. Also, delicate alfalfa leaves are handled gently making sure the bale contains the same nutrients that were in the windrow.
ROTO CUT.
Top-quality silage is the hallmark of the ROTO CUT rotor. Properly chopped silage can be packed more densely in the bale, creating the ideal conditions for lactic acid fermentation in the wrapped bale and ultimately high milk or meat production when fed to the ruminant.
FINE CUT.
Short chop lengths are possible with the FINE CUT rotor. Shortly cut straw in particular packs tightly in the bale but also is superior to long straw when used as animal bedding. The more openings that are in the straw, the more moisture it is able to absorb to keep animals clean and dry.
Tying cycle.
CLAAS history runs deep with securing baled crops, company founder August Claas' first patent was for his knotter billhook design in 1921 used on a straw binder. Agriculture machinery and harvesting practices have certainly changed since then, but securely tying baled crops remains just as important today. QUADRANT square balers benefit from these years of experience and are equipped with the latest version of the CLAAS knotter, known for its simplicity, ease of adjustment and feed cleanliness without twine residue.
The CLAAS knotter makes one loop knot per bale. This type of knot has great knot strength, up to 70% of the twine tensile strength, 20% firmer than those of any double knotter, and as always it works without leaving twine residue. Each knotter can be rotated up for maintenance without the use of tools and is lubricated by the central greasing system.
Easy threading.
The fold-down twine guide makes initial threading even more convenient. The twine brake is quick to adjust and can be matched to the twine without tools. In combination with automotive seals that keep the twine box dust-free, a long working day with a maximum number of bales is no challenge at all!
Clean all the time.
A clean knotter is the key to reliability. QUADRANT square balers use two hydraulically driven turbine fans that send air at 90 mph (140 km/h) across each knotter. Oscillating fins change the direction of the air so that crop material does not get a chance to rest in the knotter and cause subsequent issues.
